The Refugee Archive DAF Day Award 2026

Chariot names the oral history nonprofit one of four national DAF Day winners, alongside the ACLU, the National Audubon Society, and Grounds for Sculpture

NEWARK, DE, UNITED STATES, October 20, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Refugee Archive (TRA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that records the oral histories of single mothers and female-headed households living in active displacement as refugees or IDPs, has won the DAF Day 2026 Award for Best Social Post. Chariot announced the winners at its DAF Day Awards ceremony. Each winning organization receives a $500 donor-advised fund (DAF) grant from Chariot.

DAF Day falls on October 8 each year. It asks people who hold donor-advised funds to recommend grants to the charities they care about. The 2026 campaign drew a large field: more than 2,600 organizations used Chariot's DAF Day toolkits, and over 5,000 people registered for the DAF Day webinar series.

TRA's design team created the winning post as part of its DAF Day campaign. The team includes Ian Harold Daluyen, Social Media Manager, and Pia Frances Pagulayan, Senior Digital & Content Designer. "We're a new organization, still shaping our visual identity, and we built this campaign in a single week," said Daluyen, Social Media Manager at The Refugee Archive. "Being named next to the ACLU and the National Audubon Society shows what a small, committed team can do. Displaced single mothers around the world don't get the option to quit, so what right did we have to hold back? We couldn't look at their reality and settle for the bare minimum. We gave it everything we had, and we won."

"Since our launch, a dedicated team of staff, youth volunteers, and professional advocates has shown up for this mission week after week," said Kristi Dawn Riggs, Founder and Executive Director of The Refugee Archive. "This award belongs to them. It also helps us reach donors who don't know how easy it is to give from a donor-advised fund. Thank you to Chariot, and to everyone who shared our post."

TRA will use the $500 grant to support its oral history collection, which is active in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, and Uganda. TRA is also planning pilot projects in South Africa, the West Bank, and Jordan.

The other 2026 winners were Grounds for Sculpture (Most Compelling Email), the ACLU (Most Effective Mailer), and the National Audubon Society (Most Innovative Campaign Element). About The Refugee Archive
The Refugee Archive is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Its core work is collecting long-form oral histories from single mothers and female-headed households living in active displacement as refugees or IDPs. Every other TRA program grows out of that collection. The Story to Action Lab turns these stories into learning tools for partners. The Policy Tracker follows the policies that shape these women's lives across countries. Art of Oral History pairs youth artists with narrators, and TRA's education programs, webinars, and podcasts bring the archive to students, researchers, and the public. Each program carries the women's own words to a new audience, from classrooms to policymakers. Learn more at therefugeearchive.org.

About Chariot
